Extracting Wisdom
May 17, 2023Mom Knows Best
When my children were High School aged, one by one they needed their wisdom teeth removed. My memory of having all my wisdom teeth removed was not too bad. After the surgery I remember going home to rest. Mom gave me some small white homeopathic beads to take multiple times during the day. She told me that these homeopathic beads would help with my recovery and that I would not have swollen cheeks like most people did when they had their wisdom teeth removed. I did have friends that missed many days of school and looked like chipmunks after having their wisdom teeth out. After my wisdom teeth were removed I had very little swelling and seemed to heal quickly and I remember noticing that the homeopathic beads seemed to work. I wondered if it was just me or if the homeopathic remedies really helped.
Homeopathy for the Win
With this positive memory in mind, I did the same thing to treat my children after their wisdom teeth extractions. I went to the health food store and bought the little blue bottle containing small homeopathic beads. There was a display in the store describing the use of each of the different remedies. I bought three remedies: Staphysagria, Arnica, and Symphytum officinale.
- Staphysagria: relieves itching of surgical wounds
- Arnica: is used for pain, bruising and swelling associated with trauma, or surgery, and
- Symphytum officinale: accelerates healing and relieves pain caused by bone trauma
Just like my mother did for me, I had my children take several of these homoeopathic beads multiple times a day for the first couple of days. Things went very smoothly for all of my children and, they all recovered quickly.
So what is homeopathy and how does it work? Well, homeopathy is an alternative medicine approach to healing. It is safe and I have found it to be effective. Homeopathy is based on the belief that the body can heal itself if it is properly stimulated.
